New I-15 bridge in Farmington opens, replacing old Shepard Lane crossing
November 24, 2025
East-west connection restored for local neighborhoods and businesses
The Utah Department of Transportation opened the new North Station Lane bridge over Interstate 15 today, replacing the old Shepard Lane bridge that was demolished earlier this year.

The new bridge is one of the first major pieces of a new interchange being built in the area to improve access, safety and east-west travel through Farmington.
One lane is open in each direction while crews finish work on signals, striping and signage. Until the signals are activated, the intersection will operate as a four-way stop. In addition, pedestrians can now cross the bridge, with a temporary route along the north shoulder until a permanent sidewalk is complete.
The overpass has been closed since May, when crews removed the old Shepard Lane bridge to build a wider structure and begin work on the new North Station Lane interchange. Once complete, the interchange will provide Utahns with more ways to get around, including a 10-foot wide shared-use trail, new sidewalks and a pedestrian bridge.
“People in Farmington have been waiting a long time to get this connection back,” UDOT Region One Communications Manager Mitch Shaw said. “Reopening this bridge gives families, businesses and neighborhoods a more reliable way to get around.”
To keep construction moving and meet future milestones, several overnight closures of I-15 are planned for November, December and January. On Monday, Nov. 24 from 9 p.m. until 6 a.m. on Tuesday, Nov. 25, crews will reduce northbound I-15 to one lane from Park Lane to 200 North for bridge work. Then, during the same time frame, northbound I-15 will be closed again on the evening of Nov. 25.
The project is on track to wrap up winter 2026.
