Mountain View Corridor Opening Celebration

Dec19

SALT LAKE CITY (Dec. 17, 2025) — The Utah Department of Transportation will celebrate the Mountain View Corridor extension’s early opening with a community event on the new freeway.

The new, four-mile-long freeway (which will officially open to traffic as early as 7 p.m. Friday, Dec. 19) has two lanes in each direction, wildlife fencing and a 12-foot-wide multi-use trail with five pedestrian bridges.

The project finished four months ahead of schedule, improving connections across a thriving Utah Valley. UDOT’s contractor Jordan Narrows Constructors, a joint venture with Ames Construction and Staker Parson, worked to complete the project as quickly as possible, supported by favorable weather that allowed crews to work longer than expected. Significant support from local, federal and military leaders — including Utah’s federal delegation — helped secure early access to Camp Williams State Military Reserve land, allowing construction to begin nearly a year earlier than planned in those areas.

After brief remarks from project leaders and elected officials, attendees can walk on the new road, take a picture with Santa Claus, vote on their favorite holiday-decorated truck and enjoy games, prizes and food.
