UDOT announces I-15 closures in Northern Utah this weekend
March 12, 2026
Closures will allow crews to safely place bridge beams and pour bridge decks
SALT LAKE CITY (March 12, 2026) — The Utah Department of Transportation is urging drivers in Northern Utah to plan ahead for multiple closures on Interstate 15 this weekend.
On the evenings of Friday, March 13 and Saturday, March 14, I-15 will be closed near 4400 South and the Ogden-Hinckley Airport.
On Friday, March 13, northbound I-15 will be closed from 11 p.m. to 7 a.m. on Saturday, March 14. All lanes will reopen by 9 a.m. During this time, northbound I-15 traffic will be detoured onto Riverdale Road and then to northbound Interstate 84.
Update: the Saturday night closure has been postposed to Sunday night due to weather.
On Sunday, March 15, southbound I-15 will be closed at 9 p.m. All lanes will reopen by 5 a.m. Southbound traffic will exit I-15 at 4400 South (Exit 340), use Riverdale Road and then reenter southbound I-15 during this time.
These closures will allow crews to install the steel support beams for the new 4400 South bridge.
Further south in Farmington, I-15 will be reduced to one lane in each direction on Friday night between Glovers Lane and Park Lane. The lane closures will begin Friday, March 13 at 8 p.m. and last through Saturday, March 14 at 7 a.m.
Crews will be pouring concrete for a new pedestrian bridge deck as part of the Shepard Lane Improved project. The project includes a new interchange, a 10-foot-wide shared-use trail, new sidewalks and a pedestrian bridge. Work is expected to finish by the end of the year.
Additionally, in Salt Lake Valley, southbound Interstate 215 will be reduced to one lane on Friday, March 13 at 10 p.m. until Saturday, March 14 at 7 a.m. The lane closures will occur from Interstate 80 to south of California Avenue, and the southbound I-215 off-ramp to California Avenue will be closed as well. These closures will allow crews to pour concrete for the new bridge deck at California Avenue.
