UDOT announces $2.8 billion in new and ongoing 2026 construction

Crews will improve roads and bridges, increase safety and expand travel options statewide

SALT LAKE CITY (March 26, 2026) — The Utah Department of Transportation is kicking off another busy construction season across Utah.

Today UDOT announced that 176 new construction projects worth $2.8 billion will start this year, with another 57 projects continuing work already underway.

Across the state, crews are working on a wide range of projects that reflect how Utahns travel every day. This year’s work includes fixing worn pavement and bridges, improving safety on busy highways and intersections, easing bottlenecks in busy corridors, and expanding options for walking, biking and transit. Some projects focus on maintenance, others on long-planned improvements, but all are designed to make it easier and safer for people to get where they need to go.

“Every project we start is about taking care of the system Utahns rely on every day,” UDOT Deputy Director Lisa Wilson said. “From fixing key routes and preserving bridges to building trails and supporting transit, this work is focused on making travel safer, more reliable and more accessible. At the end of the day, our goal is simple: help people get where they’re going safely.”

As crews work to improve, maintain and expand the state’s transportation network, drivers are reminded to slow down and stay safe in work zones.
