New high-visibility lane striping coming to Bangerter Highway
April 21, 2026
Night work between Interstate 15 and 2400 South will require lane closures through the summer
SALT LAKE CITY (April 21, 2026) — The Utah Department of Transportation is adding new high-visibility lane striping along Bangerter Highway this summer, making lane lines easier to see and improving safety for drivers.
Every Saturday through Thursday night from 10 p.m. to 5 a.m. this summer, drivers can expect lane closures on Bangerter Highway from Interstate 15 in Draper to 2400 South in Salt Lake County.
During this time, crews will be installing new “tiger tail” lane striping. This pattern uses alternating white and black lines that are easier to see, especially at night or in wet conditions. In addition, the contrast is helpful for autonomous vehicle sensors and cameras.
At times, crews may reduce traffic to one lane in each direction or temporarily close on- and off-ramps.
Drivers are encouraged to plan ahead and use caution when traveling through the area.
Construction schedules are subject to change due to weather or other factors. For the latest updates, visit udottraffic.utah.gov or download the UDOT Traffic app.
