The Utah Department of Transportation is urging drivers heading to the Salt Lake International Airport to plan for multiple ramp closures at the I-80 and I-215 interchange.

Starting Sunday, April 26 at 7 p.m., the ramps from southbound I-215 to westbound I-80 and eastbound I-80 to southbound I-215 will close. Both ramps will remain closed for up to 45 days.

Drivers heading to the Salt Lake International Airport from north of the airport should continue on southbound I-215 to SR-201, then use westbound SR-201 to Bangerter Highway and northbound Bangerter Highway to access the airport. Drivers traveling on eastbound I-80 will be detoured to southbound I-15, then onto westbound SR-201, where they can reconnect with southbound I-215.

Several other ramp closures are already in place near the I-80 and I-215 interchange including:

  • Southbound I-215 to California Avenue on and off-ramps: closed until mid-May.
  • Redwood Road to southbound I-215: closed through early June.
  • Redwood Road to northbound I-215: closed until July 2027.

These closures are part of the I-215 West Improved project, which is replacing 18 bridge decks, repairing potholes on 12 other bridges and repaving 25 miles of I-215.

Throughout the spring and summer, every ramp within the I-80 and I-215 interchange will close at different times for bridge work. Crews will stagger ramp closures so not all ramps will close at once, though some closures will overlap. Most ramp closures will last between 20 and 40 days, with many completed in about a month.

In addition, drivers in Davis County should expect overnight ramp closures in Farmington this weekend.

On Friday, April 24 at 11 p.m., the ramp from Park Lane to southbound Legacy Parkway will be closed until 7 a.m. Saturday, April 25. Traffic will be detoured to southbound I-15 and exit at Parrish Lane to access Legacy Parkway.

Then, on Saturday, April 25 at 11 p.m. until Sunday, April 26 at 7 a.m., the northbound I-15 off-ramp to Park Lane will close. To access Park Lane, traffic will be detoured to northbound US-89, exit at Shepard Lane, and then take southbound US-89 to Park Lane. Crews will use these overnight closures to install concrete barriers.

Construction schedules are subject to change due to weather or other factors. Drivers are encouraged to check the UDOT Traffic app or visit udottraffic.utah.gov before traveling.
