UDOT Advanced Air Mobility Survey
February 10, 2026

UDOT is currently conducting a statewide survey about Advanced Air Mobility (AAM) to inform long-range transportation planning and public outreach. We regularly conduct surveys to better understand Utahns’ transportation-related priorities, questions and concerns, and we want to ensure future discussions about AAM reflect the priorities and values of Utah communities.
Advanced Air Mobility is an umbrella term for emerging aviation technologies that range from small drones to piloted passenger aircraft. These drones and aircraft have a variety of beneficial applications such as transportation, emergency response, and medical uses.
Transportation technologies are evolving rapidly, and AAM is being explored as a viable transportation option around the country. UDOT is taking a proactive, research-based approach to understand where AAM might provide public value in Utah, where concerns or skepticism exist, and how AAM could potentially complement our transportation system.
The public’s input at this early stage helps to ensure that any future planning is informed, transparent, and grounded in community feedback. While no decisions about implementation or investment have been made, AAM is a concept being explored as part of long-term transportation planning in Utah.
