Permits

All permits are tied to Utah Administrative Rules and follow the Department’s Strategic Goals:

  • Zero Crashes, Injuries, Fatalities
  • Optimizing Mobility
  • Preserving Infrastructure

Amusement Ride Safety Permit: a required annual permit for each amusement ride.

Automatic License Plate Reader System (ALPRS): required for each enforcement agency planning to install any license plate reader camera within or towards a state highway or interstate.

Conditional Access Permit (CAP): for plan set reviews for any land development or utility design.

Encroachment Permit: for bonded contractors to perform any construction activity and/or traffic control within the UDOT right-of-way.

Special Event Permit: for activities such as parades, races, or media recordings within UDOT right-of-way.

Outdoor Advertising Permit: for new, modified, or transferred billboard locations.

Small Wireless Permit (5G): for designing 5G networks within UDOT right-of-way.

Trucking Permit: for oversized, wide loads, and other large vehicle permits.

Statewide Utility License Agreement (SULA): required prior to design and placement of any type of utility or service within the UDOT right-of-way.

Blue Stakes of Utah – 811: the Utah system for requesting utility markings (Blue Stakes) prior to excavation.
