Standard Specifications and Standard Drawings

Standard Specifications are written to the Contractor. They define the Contractor’s responsibility in each specification, list the Department’s expectations, and explain what the Contractor is expected to provide. All actions are to be performed by the Contractor unless otherwise noted. A Special Provision may revise the Standard Specification for a specific contract.

Standard Drawings are written to the Contractor, defining Contractor’s responsibility. A Plan Sheet may provide more detailed information or revise the Standard Drawing for a specific contract.

Department Standard Drawings are Microstation DGN files and are required to meet strict format requirements: CADD Standards Manual for UDOT Standard Drawing

The optimum method to create a new drawing is to use an existing drawing file as the base. This should allow you to start with your settings and drawing border correctly.
